This exercise, No. 7 – Left Hand Slur Exercise – Horizontal Builder, has a very similar aim to No. 3 – Left Hand Position: Horizontal Builder. During each shift you should release all the pressure/tension in the left hand. This creates a fluid left hand that builds in relaxation between accurate left hand slurs. Keep the fingers light and right next to the frets. Go for an even, legato, sound with snappy fingers. Strength is not needed for the slurs. If you are hovering over the string and use an accurate snap into it you will achieve the result. Make sure your fingers are curved and that you’re on your fingertips.
