Paul Kieffer Plays Francesco da Milano

1

Paul-Kieffer-LuteLutenist Paul Kieffer, based in Basel, Switzerland, plays a Ricercar (or is it a Fantasia?) by Italian Renaissance composer and lutenist Francesco da Milano (1497–1543). Milano was also known as Il divino and famous throughout Europe. These are great pieces for guitarists, just tune the 3rd string to F# and you are good to go. Beautiful performance by Kieffer who has previously studied with such greats as Nigel North among others. Lute made by Paul Thomson, 2009. Recorded in Weil am Rhein, Germany, 2014.
