Evangelina Mascardi (Vihuela) Plays Mudarra, Cabezón, & Borrono

Evangelina Mascardi (Vihuela) performs a concert set including Mudarra, Cabezón, and Borrono. This comes via her YouTube channel. Excellent performances on the vihuela by Mascardi with beautiful rhythmic charm and great close ups of her fantastic technique. Go subscribe to her on Youtube, surely more great things to come. If you want a guitar edition of the Mudarra I have a PDF edition here and lesson video here. It’s great to see the close ups of the thumb and finger passages that sound so rhythmic and striking. Below is the times for the programme.

0:09 Alonso Mudarra (1510 – 1580) Fantasía que contrahaze la harpa en la manera de Ludovico

2:04 Antonio de Cabezón (1510 – 1566) Himno “Christe redemptor”

4:55 Pietro Paolo Borrono (c1490-dopo il 1563) Pavana chiamata La Gombertina

Registrato il 30 aprile 2021 nella Pieve di San Martino, Palazzo Pignano (Cremona) Vihuela costruita da Francisco Hervás, Granada 2019
