Adelita is one of Francisco Tárrega’s (1852–1909) most famous salon works. As with Lagrima, it is a short, memorable, and melodic work that hits the sweet spots on the guitar. It’s played by professionals and students alike and although there are some small sections to overcome, the rewarding melody and sound are well worth the effort. I´ve been working on it for a couple of weeks and have a question about right hand fingering in the beginning of the A section. I aim for plucking the high E (first note) with the A finger and the B note with the I finger to be prepared for the G/E to be plucked with M and I fingers. Would that be a good approach? The reason for asking is that even if I try to do this, and have so for a while now, it still feels somewhat unnatural and I often end up with using the M finger instead for the B note which isn´t optimal for the notes that follow.

Maybe a better solution would be to pluck the first note with ‘m’ and the B with ‘a’ so that ‘i-m’ can play the accompaniment. That said, in this piece you will have to repeat fingers quite a bit and the slur allows plenty of time to do so, therefore, you could also just play the first melody notes with all with ‘a’.
