Hotlink: Douglass Scott Rosette Tribute to Manuel Velazquez

Fellow Vancouver Islander and luthier Douglass Scott has a nice little article about making some rosettes in tribute of Manuel Velazquez who passed away in April. Via his blog. I love his updates, he always includes some personal reflections and a few pictures. Plus his guitars are fantastic with high quality workmanship.

I wanted to do something small in homage of his contribution to the history of the classical guitar. I decided to make a series of rosettes based on a central zig-zag pattern that I’ve seen on a handful of Velazquez’s guitars dating from the early 1950s.
