Émilie Fend performs Cielo Abierto by Argentine guitarist and composer Quique Sinesi (b.1960). This comes via Fend’s YouTube channel (go subscribe). Amazing performance with a ton of rhythmic and melodic clarity and drive. I don’t listen to many South American guitarists/composers well so it was interesting to explore Quique Sinesi. As Fend mentions, “Rooted in the rhythm of Candombe, this piece moves between powerful percussive passages and intimate, lyrical moments. Its vibrant rhythmic energy is contrasted with a warm, singing quality, creating a piece full of movement, openness and hope.”
