Finlay Hay & Amy Karensa Morris Perform Seiber

Finlay Hay (guitar) and Amy Karensa Morris (voice) perform Le Rossignol and J’ai descendu by Mátyás Seiber (1905-1960) from Four French Folk Songs. Originally Quatre chansons populaires francaises for soprano and string orchestra (1948). This comes via Finlay Hay’s YouTube and Matthew McAllister’s Youtube. Hay is studying for his undergrad with Matthew McAllister and Allan Neave at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Wonderful playing with some excellent phrasing and shaping in the accompaniment to the beautifully performed voice. Mátyás Seiber was a Hungarian-born British composer who’s compositional style was wide ranging and he had one chamber work with guitar, The Owl and the Pussycat (1957) for voice, violin and guitar. I believe the French Songs were first arranged by Julian Bream and performed with the great Sir Peter Pears. There is a Bream publication by Schott Music.
