Frevo Guitar Duo plays Smørdal

freveo-guitar-duoHere’s the second post from my new category called “New Music Mondays” where music from contemporary composers is explored. I figure it’s not enough to just cover the guitarists but also the composers who are integral to keeping the guitar repertoire fresh and expanding. Plus, not many publications for guitar look at new music very often, in fact, some just plainly ignore it altogether. Here’s one from the Frevo Guitar Duo playing Snip-pets by Jan Martin Smørdal. The Frevo Guitar Duo consists of two Norwegian guitar players Pål Granum and Andreas Karlsen.

Snip-pets was composed by Jan Martin Smørdal for Frevo Guitar Duo (Andreas Karlsen and Pål Granum) and premiered in 2010. This music video is the live studio recording of the work from 2012, shot with two handheld cameras. It is the official music video for our 2013 CD release ‘Lød’ on Euridice Records. Camera Work and Lighting: Kjell Ivar Lund and Wenche Munkelien, Audio Engineer: Jørn Arild Grefsrud, Produced, Directed and Edited by Frevo Guitar Duo.
