Norwegian classical guitarist Kristina Vårlid performs Sonata II by Nikita Koshkin (b.1956). This comes via Varlid’s Youtube channel. Movements: I. Allegro moderato, II. Adagio, III. Allegro. Sonata II is dedicated to Dimitris Dekavallas and was premiered in 2012. Great performance by Varlid here with excellent contrasts between beautiful melodic sections and extroverted outbursts. A real versatile player, this is the first time I’ve featured Varlid and I’m looking forward to future performances and interpretations. The third movement will be released next week and I’ll update then.

Beautifully interpreted. Interesting to see with all the options of chairs, footstool, and guitar supports out there, she simply sits on the stairs.
