Nocturne No. 2, Op. 4 (Excerpt) by Johann Kaspar Mertz (1806–1856) – Free PDF Sheet Music or Tab for Classical Guitar. Intermediate (Grade 6) due to some hinge barres, I feel it is on the early intermediate side if you study it carefully. YouTube Performance Link. Please note: there is an Allegro con brio that is played attacca to this which you can see in the facsimile here but is not included in my score, mine has the beautiful and contained first piece only.

Here’s a free edition of Nocturne No. 2, Op. 4  by Johann Kaspar Mertz (1806–1856). Mertz was a Hungarian guitarist and composer who wrote many concert works for guitar as well as some easier collections including Op. 4 from which this piece originates. I’ve made a free copy to attract guitarists to the site and a tablature (tab) version for those who need it. Join the Email Newsletter to get updates on free sheet music and more. Thanks for sharing Mertz, guitar music is more complex rhythmically and very rich even in his shorter pieces. His music should be in anyone’s repertoire.
