Sam Cave performs Outcast by Michael Finnissy (b.1946), written for Cave in 2021. This comes via his YouTube Channel. The work had its world premiere by Cave at the 21st Century Guitar Conference in Indiana, USA in March but due to Covid the premiere was given via a video performance at Asylum Chapel in Peckham, London, UK.
Beautifully spacious and complex work with wonderful pacing and control of the texture by Sam Cave. Also check out his excellent recording I reviewed Refracted Resonance featuring contemporary music for guitar. Finnissy is a major composer of our day so this is a big contribution to the guitar repertoire. He has a number of solo and chamber music works that include guitar.
