Canadian guitarist Steve Cowan plays Prelude (Op. 41) and Intermezzo (Op. 80) by Canadian composer Jacques Hétu (1938-2010). The Prelude is from the suite of Op. 41 which is a multi-movement work and maybe Canada’s best. The Intermezzo is lesser known although we are starting to see it played more and more these days. The video comes via Boston Guitarfest and their fantastic YouTube channel. If I’m not mistaken, Cowen won the Boston Fest in 2013 so this might be is winner performance the following year.
