This work is from Mertz’s Bardenklänge (Bardic Sounds), Op.13 collection. Mertz was very influenced by the great composers of his day, in particular, Liszt, Chopin, Mendelssohn, Schubert and Schumann firmly placing him as a prominent Romantic era composer for guitar.
This work is firmly in the late intermediate level but once a faster tempo is added the opportunity for advanced performance technique and refinement exists. Here’s the YouTube link if you want to watch it there.
