Hao Yang performs Canzonetta from String Quartet in E Flat Major, Op. 12 by Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847). This comes via Guitars International via their YouTube channel with video and recording by Drew Henderson. Amazing performance once again from Hao Yang with such controlled articulations and beautiful directional phrasing. I continue to be shocked by Yang’s playing with the second section including some rapid lines that sound perfectly at home on guitar.

This is so different from the Julian Bream version that I grew up listening to. Bream’s rendition sounds rushed in comparison, and is marred by constant string squeaks. Dare I say that I prefer Ms Yang’s tone, control and interpretation? Brilliant performance.

Wow. Amazing. Such crisp, clear notes at an unbelievable speed. I was unfamiliar with this piece but will now add it to my listening repertoire since it is well beyond my playing repertoire.
Hao Jang, really very lovely to listen to. I had my eyes closed most of the time. In some parts what she was playing, sounded just like a piano. Again Wonderful to listen to. I learned classical music from my mentor, Eddie Brawn, that was in Bonny Scotland and still at school. I started learning the guitar through a tiny bit of Jealousy.!!!!
