Duet Play-Along: A Fairy Tale from Volume 1 Method

A Fairy Tale Duet Play Along, with first left hand notes for beginner guitar from my Free Classical Guitar Method Volume 1. This one uses only open strings and a third string A for the student and is the 2nd duet in the book for absolute beginners. I’ll play the duet and then play the teacher part so you can play along. Using the YouTube Link might be easier for skipping back for retries.

  • 1st Time: Duet
  • 2nd Time: Teacher Part with Counting

  1. I practiced on my own a few times and then started trying to play along… It was only after repeating it about 30 times that I really started getting everything right and feeling that what I was playing was better synchronized with the part the teacher plays in the video. I think I wasn’t going slowly enough, and sometimes I’d miss the right timing… I guess it gets better with practice (?) Time and time and time again…Thanks!

    • Yes, and practice is a variety of ways, sometimes super slow while counting, other times with a metronome or video, sometimes with nothing and just focus on legato playing. The more the better.

  2. You’re amazing and your kindness and generosity of knowledge shines through. Just played my first duet makes so much sense thank you

    • Hello Professor Bradford, thank you for another video lesson and for the experience of playing a duet; even from a distance, it has been a special learning experience for me. I liked this piece—it’s very calm. I don’t know why, but it reminded me of the music in movies with a medieval theme.
