Argentinian classical guitarist Pablo Márquez performs the Ciaccona (Chaconne) from the Violin Partita No.2, BWV 1004 in D-Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). This comes via his YouTube channel (go subscribe).
Spirited performance by Marquez on a historic Johann Anton Stauffer ca.1842 guitar. I keep seeing people play Bach and other early music on 19th century guitars and quite enjoy it. I think it’s the reduced sustain and more plucky sound equalizes the tone and attack making it more even and rhythmically focused like a lute or harpsichord. But it still retains many expressive qualities of guitar making it a possible in-between choice of instrument. This is the first time featuring Marquez, looking forward to hearing more.
