Well Balanced Technique Sessions and Cross-Technique Benefits

Well Balanced Technique Sessions and Cross-Technique Benefits. Students often underestimate the importance of cross-technique benefits, that is, how some technique exercises can actually improve your other techniques. Aim to create a well-balanced technique routine to ensure you are benefiting from cross-technique contamination.

Examples:

  • m-a scales can often improve the eveness of arpeggios and tremolo
  • alignment and finger independence can help with slurs
  • arpeggios gradually reduced to a single string can help tremolo
  • staccato articulation can help develop speed
  • many many more.
